Moving day goes better when you can find the coffee maker without opening every box. BoxLens gives you a photo of each box, a room tag, and a priority level so you and anyone helping you know exactly where things go.
Start a week before the move
Set your move date at the top of the planner. The countdown helps you pace your packing. Add boxes as you seal them. A quick photo takes two seconds and saves a lot of guessing later.
What to write in the contents field
Keep it short but specific. "Plates and bowls" is better than "kitchen stuff." If a box has a mix, write the most important item first. For example: "Laptop, charger, and notebooks."
Common mistakes to avoid
- Writing only on the top of the box. Stack the boxes and the label disappears. Write on two sides.
- Packing heavy books in large boxes. Use small boxes for heavy things so they are still liftable.
- Forgetting a "first night" box. Pack sheets, toilet paper, phone chargers, snacks, and basic tools together and mark it Open first.
- Not backing up your log. Hit Export JSON once a week so a browser clear does not erase your work.
Scenario: Studio apartment move in 10 days
Day 10: Pack the bookshelf and photo frames. Day 8: Pack the kitchen, keeping out one pan and a mug. Day 6: Pack clothes you are not wearing this week. Day 4: Pack the bathroom and office. Day 2: Pack the "first night" box and take a final walkthrough. Each day, photograph the boxes you sealed and add them to BoxLens. On move day, print the label sheet and tape one to each box. At the new place, open the "first night" box first and work through the rest by room.
After the move
Keep the log for a few weeks. If something is missing, the photo and contents note help you remember which box it was in. You can also use the log for insurance questions if anything breaks in transit.
